Welnav's mining experience and product utilization has covered areas from coal mines of West Virginia; uranium mines of New Mexico; potash, silver and gold mines of Canada; coal, lead and gold mines of Australia; gold mines of New Guinea, and the underground activities at the Nevada Nuclear Test Site.
Welnav has operated in mines in Arizona, inside the Hoover dam, and inside subway tunnels on the East and West Coasts of the United States.
Welnav has designed and operates a special SLIMHOLE GYROSCOPIC SURVEY SYSTEM that weighs 35 lbs, is 8 ft. long, and has a 1.65" outside diameter. One unigue feature of this SLIMHOLE tool is that power and data can be utilized at either end of the system. This is particularly important for "UP-HOLE" surveying so the power signal can be added at the bottom of the tool. Other survey tools in the market only allow for power and signal at the top of the tool. Therefore a conductor wire must extend from the top of the tool to the collar of the borehole, down the side of the instrument. This adds to the overall diameter of the competitor's survey instruments.
The Welnav Slimhole Gyro System is easily transported into the mine and is manually pushed into "up" holes using plastic survey rods. Or if circumstances allow us to use our "UNDERGROUND SURVEYING UNIT" we can use our exclusive "RIGID CABLE SYSTEM" to run any of our many applicable surveying systems into the borehole.
